Exploring the Culture of Wilderness (14 day) – Ages 16 – 18

In collaboration with The Wilderness Society (TWS), this program includes thought-provoking discussions about our nation’s history of protecting landscapes for public use and enjoyment and how policy and society enhances or exacerbates diversity, equity, and inclusion, all while backpacking and canoeing through the public waterways and wilderness areas of the White Mountain National Forest and Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Teens on this trip can expect to combine some full days hiking and canoeing with some down time to learn and share their ideas about public lands, art, conservation, and advocacy. Teens will also have the opportunity to present a personal call-to-action at the end of the trip on a topic that they choose, to an audience of AMC and TWS staff.
