Ask Congress to Reject Misguided Attempts by the Outgoing Administration to Undermine LWCF
The Great American Outdoors Act, enacted amidst great fanfare in August, fully funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) at $900 million annually in perpetuity. The outgoing Administration has failed to faithfully implement the Great American Outdoors Act by trying to redirect how funds are distributed and by placing new, untenable restrictions on LWCF projects including new procedural hurdles, making it harder to protect the places we love.
Congress will be passing appropriations bills in December that will determine how the $900 million in LWCF funds will be spent in the coming year. Congress can right these wrongs. Write to your U.S. Representative and Senators to again thank them for their leadership in passing the Great American Outdoors Act and ask them to keep GAOA’s promises by passing appropriations bills that override the outgoing Administration’s recent actions.
