Little Lyford Fly Fishing Festival
May 25-29th at Little Lyford Lodge
Fly fishing and fish habitat conservation are important ecological resources that provide a thrilling outdoor experience that should be conserved. In fact, AMC’s Maine Woods boasts some of the most active native brook trout and Atlantic salmon habitat in the northeast.
Bring your fishing pole* and join us for fly fishing, expert presentations, music, science, art and more, all focused on our amazing fish population and the beautiful place they call home. Programs and tours will be provided at no additional cost to guests staying overnight at the lodge.
*Fly fishing festival guests must get a fishing license in order to fish at the festival
Maine Woods Birding Festival
June 15-18th at Little Lyford Lodge
Scheduled around the active birding season for an optimal experience, the festival will provide numerous opportunities for guests to learn more about birds and their habitat and strengthen their appreciation of the ways in which they can make an impact on bird wellbeing. What better place to showcase birds than the largest contiguous undeveloped forest in the eastern United States and the heart of a globally protected watershed here on the AMC’s 100,000-acre North Maine woods? Music, art, food, birding tours, and expert presentations will play an important role in filling out the week. Bird themed of course!
No additional equipment required. Programs and tours will be provided at no additional cost to guests staying overnight at the lodge.


Slapjack Bike Festival
July 9-16 at Medawisla Lodge
Join us for our inaugural multi-day gravel riding celebration from July 9th through July 16th. There will be both guided group bike rides and time to explore the scenery on your own. Live music, free swag, new friends, fun clinics, equipment demos and evening presentations are all planned.
Guests are required to bring their own bikes. Programs and tours will be provided at no additional cost for guests staying overnight at the lodge. Evening dinner and presentation tickets will be available for those staying locally and are available by making dinner reservations directly through the lodge.
2nd Annual See the Dark Festival
October 15-22 at Medawisla Lodge
Scheduled around the New Moon for optimal stargazing, the festival will provide the opportunity for guests to learn more about dark sky conservation and strengthen their appreciation of the ways in which they can make an impact. Consistent with the Appalachian Mountain Club’s mission, the dark skies are an important ecological resource and a thrilling outdoor experience that should be conserved. In fact, AMC’s Maine Woods International Dark Sky Park is one of the best places for stargazing in the region.
